Pretty Cute Diaries 2010
I’ve been staking out Kinokuniya, Page One (Vivo City) and Takashimaya for cute diaries and here is my loot!
This one seems to be a bestseller, I got the second last copy from Kinokuniya. The theme of Palette’s is very Parisian, featuring the sweetest looking pastries, teacups, little patisserie and flowers and everything else that makes the French lifestyle so charming. I love San-X products!
All the pastel shades are so sweet! If there’s such a thing as colour therapy, this would be it.
The other diaries from Kino coming up;
Apparently this black cat’s name is Kutusitanyanko. Also made by San-X, though I’ve never seen this character before, but I really like the illustration. Take a look to see what I mean!
Kutusitanyanko having tea.
Kutusitanyanko frolicking in Moscow.
Kutusitanyanko doing the laundry.
Kutusitanyanko trying to sew a dress so she wouldn’t be naked anymore.
Still-naked Kutusitanyanko organising her photo collection.
Kutusitanyanko says, “Plan for the year ahead and remember your loved ones’ birthdays! Meow!”
Kutusitanyanko lets you write your thoughts and dreams in here, and hope they come true. Meow Meow!
Kutusitanyanko says, “Sayonara! Meow!”
This next one from Kamio Japan Inc features animal finger puppets. I think the illustration is done in watercolour. I remember I struggled with watercolour painting back in NAFA. It’s a medium that eludes me so much, my apples end up looking like blotches of blood. Or something similarly unappetizing. Thank goodness for Photoshop.
The patchwork and lace are actually sewn on the canvas cover, not prints. So irresistibly sweet, right? And the plastic cover protects the fabric nicely.
The column of the entire month on the left is good for recording things like when you topped up your train card, for example – so it’s easy reference when you want to track your travelling expenses.
The writing areas are pretty much left white, so those who enjoy more white space will appreciate this diary.
Weekly planner and lot of white space on the right for the prolific writer/doodler.
Here you record the info about shops you frequent. Like address, opening hours, phone number and your own memo about the shop (eg. bring more money).
On the left is the ubiquitous Japan Railways map that you’ll find in true blue made-in-Japan diaries. I will go to Japan and refer to the map next year. I will allow it to happen. I will attract the money to pay for airfare, hotel, food and shopping. Om…..
The last 3 diaries are from Page One. I love getting lost in their stationery department. Especially in September and October. When they put up extra shelves for the diaries, duh!
This has got to be the cheapest 2010 diary I’ve bought. At $6.30, it’s a pretty ok deal, considering it’s full colour and every page is different. There’re Chinese dates in there as well, which informs me Chinese New Year falls on Valentine’s Day next year.
Diary nos. 2 and 3 from Page One both feature cats. This one is just too adorable! It’s made in Taiwan, and costs $12+. Also includes the Chinese calendar.
Yearly view for you to pen in annual leave dates to keep track. Use your leave wisely! Especially you working mommies!
All the checkers and polka dots and stripes are so cheerful, it’s hard not to feel yourself brighten up looking at these pages!
Here’s the last one…
Made by Joy Star Giftware Co Ltd in Taiwan, there’re quite a few pages at the back with info like interesting website url’s and Chinese horoscopes.
So that’s it for my 2010 diary collection. Hope you enjoyed it!
